36. Corruption in India

Updated: Dec 11, 2019

Everything has its origin, so does corruption. I feel the primary cause of corruption is “patience”. In this fast moving world, no one wants to wait for anything. Everyone wants their work to be done quickly. So, they start bribing others by giving something which will not affect their pocket or their bank balance to get their work to be done fast. This is how we give birth to ‘corruption’.

Corruption can be start from 1 rupee. The person who can afford to give an extra 1 rupee for a particular work where there is no need, that person will never consider it as a corruption. But what about a person who cannot afford to give even that 1 rupee extra? He/she will be affected by something which he/she didn’t start. The person who is giving money as a bribe is a bigger culprit than the person who is asking for money (bribe). If we stop giving money as a bribe, then no one will dare to ask for it. We, the citizens of our country are responsible for corruption because we create it. This give and take relationship should stop, then only we will be able to reduce the corruption.

There are many other reasons for the corruption. People on higher authorities, do some dirty politics to get money from people. For example, some people hide the stocks of ration and spread the rumors that the ration is in very limited and hikes the prices unnecessarily. Some people intentionally don’t do their work on time so that other people will come and bribe them then they will do their work.

If we start doing our works properly on time and honestly then there will be no corruption in the country. Our country needs some different laws to be implemented. Like, the person who is both, asking and giving bribe, both will be punished. I feel digitalization is a smart and right step by the government against this corruption. Hoping for some more strict and relevant moves to solve this issue ahead.
