I believe in people’s action rather than just words of mouth. In a new place, you can’t expect from someone to support you or guide you in a right direction. I am also living with zero expectation in a place where I have no one whom I know except one or two mentors. Frankly saying, I am a very emotional person but at the same time there are hardly any people in my life who can read by untold emotions.
Last day, I was shifted in a hostel. During the admission process, my warden asked me for a reference of a local guardian. I told her that there is no local guardian. She said, “ask your professors if they can help you in this because I won’t allow you to take admission without any local guardian’s reference.” It was very urgent to shift but I was hesitating to ask for local guardian’s ID from my mentor. As I had to do that because there was no other option available for me to do. Somehow, I pushed myself and went to my mentor. The best part was I didn’t need to explain anything to him. I just said that the warden is asking for a local guardian’s reference and he said, “okay I will give my reference” and everything was sorted out so quickly. He mailed me his documents which was needed in the admission procedure, within few minutes.
He filled the form and in the relationship column he wrote ‘brother’. This caught my whole attention. This was the heart touching gesture for me because it might be just a word for some people but for me, it is an emotion. People may find me a bit more emotional but this was something I wanted to express in words though, I know, there are few moments in our lives which we can’t express in words, even words fall short.
I respect each and every effort of people who come forward to help without any expectation of getting something in return. Humanity is a thing that we can’t measure or buy and probably this is the only thing that remains with us even after death.
